seems no better, poor doggie. there is still no specific evidence of injury, only his testimony that it huuuuuuuurts. i really don't think a vet visit would help. his appetite for tuna and buttered toast seems good. dry dog food isn't worth sitting up for, but when is it ever?
so, no dog walk for all of us. batty's misadventure is going to leave all three of us pudgier, dang it.
it is a very pleasant morning and, at least from the dining room table, the view does not reveal any deer visits last night. yesterday evening what appeared to be the same buck that i have chased out of the yard, the same one that hopped into the yard when the dogs were both out recently - based on what his antlers look like, not his personal good looks - was just on the other side of the fence in kents' driveway. we sent china out to bark. she is more than happy to be the barker but it often takes a while to point out her quarry unless the breeze is from the right direction, so i imagine that's pretty funny to see china darting here and there expectantly while i run around the yard urging her on and pointing out the deer. the deer usually finds it interesting.
so by the end of today we should find out if our buyers are serious about buying or serious about giving us a hard time. last night andrea realtor called. in this process we get to know a lot more about the life of the realtor and now i feel sorry for perky little girls, such as katie b's ertwhile classmate whom we met at the kennebec tavern when we went with laurel; she was our very pleasant waitress. stick with waitressing, sweetie; when people are working with large amounts of money, they get much much more weird than they are when just out for dinner. i said to andrea why does a buyer expect the seller to take the house off the market for three months on faith that they deal will go forward and with no hope whatsoever of any money if it doesn't. i thought the three months to closing was unusual, but she says it is not unusual at all. gettting the buyer to agree to a nonrefundable deposit is very unusual, so it may be that their lawyer is trying to talk them out of that. a realtor has to know a lot and also be good at herding both buyer and seller to the sale. i wouldn't last two minutes in the herding aspect of the job. the man who does radon remediation came for the look around on friday and he was really nice, really engendered my confidence is his knowledge of the job. it's too bad the buyers couldn't be on hand to have him calm them down on the toxic subject. i think that the subject of radon is more toxic than actual radon is in most cases. i suspect that they were not worried about the radon until they maybe talked with friends, and/or talked with their lawyer. i think the buyers are serious, all right. after all, they want to get their child set up by the time her classes start, in two or three weeks, so time is closing in on them. let's hope both realtors are good at herding.

I would surely not want to be a realtor. I understand more now why my old friend Lisa, who is a realtor (or was the last time I saw her), would get mad at people who took tons and tons of her time looking at a particular house and then change their mind right at the end.
Oh poor batty!! I wonder what on earth is happened to him??
Picturing you trying to herd China to bark at the deer is greatly amusing!!

we aim to amuse!
well, poor batty will have to be in this condition for a few more days before he will earn a visit to the vet because i just can't see what they can do for him. i hope i'm doing the right thing. well, of course i hope that. i really think the more i feel sorry for him, the more worried he is.
yes, i think realtors had better not have access to firearms.

Oh Batty!! I wish for a miracle cure so he can just leave us wondering what the mystery illness was. The vet would surely order x-rays and such. But if Batty is eating a bit, and drinking and peeing and pooping that seems like a good sign to me. And I'm "Ms Call the Vet!" even. Tuna and buttered toast!! YUM!

yes, tuna & buttered toast - do you think he's working it at all? i do really feel as if the more i say, oh, poor batty, the more he thinks he's dying. i'm wondering about kind of wrapping a whole lot of,you know, the beige stretchy stuff i'm sure it has a name, around his doggie shoulder. i think that might be one of the few dog parts on which a bandage - yeah, that's it! - might stay put. then at the very least i'd feel as if i had made an effort.

why not? Also -- there is some small amount of aspirin that you can safely give a dog. But it has to be the right amount or it can hurt them. maybe Ereign knows??? Or maybe the internet knows. I used to know but I've forgotten.

well, it is done so we shall see. he's still eating and the opposite of eating just fine, so no panic yet. he says, thanks, sarah, because mom was just going to let me suffer FOREVER! he's very dramatic.
